Apple Leather Strips

I love eating fruit roll ups and fruit leather. They're both deliciously good. But, my favorite flavor would be cherry and apple. Unlike some people, I will sometimes roll them up in a ball and pop them in my mouth. Anyway, I'd been meaning to make fruit leather for quite some time...and yesterday was just the right time to make them.

How to make it:

4 cups of apples (2 apples usually make 4 cups)

Spices (This is optional)

1 tsp. honey (This is optional)

1 tsp. lemon (This is to give it a little kick, although it's optional)

1/2 cup of water

In a medium sized saucepan, add the fruit, spices, honey, lemon and water. Keep on low for about 10-15 min. or until completely cooked. Then, taking a potato masher, mash the apples. Then blend in a food processor or blender until smooth. Pour evenly on one of your dehydrator racks. Then dehydrate for 8-12 hrs. If you don't have a dehydrator you can use your oven. Line your pan with wax paper and pour the mixture and cook on temp. 140 for 10-20 hrs. Once done peel fruit leather off and slice. Enjoy. (I sliced my apple leather by using food scissors.)
